Morals, Ethics, Accountability and Transparency are the core fundamentals that Compassion Center operates on, and the OAT is tasked with analysis and evaluation, and implementing corrective actions in tandem with Compassion Center’s Compliance Committee.

Office of Accountability & Transparency (OAT)

The Office of Accountability & Transparency (OAT) at Compassion Center is integral to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and transparency across all levels of our organization. As an extension of the Office of the Board Secretary, OAT works in close collaboration with the Compliance Committee to ensure that all of our operations are conducted with transparency, accountability, and adherence to legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.

 

Our Mission

The mission of the OAT is to uphold the principles of accountability and transparency in every aspect of Compassion Center’s work. We are committed to ensuring that all organizational activities, decisions, and practices are conducted with the utmost integrity, and in a manner that is open, honest, and accessible to our stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ethical Oversight: OAT monitors and enforces ethical standards across all departments, ensuring that Compassion Center operates with integrity and in alignment with our core values.
  • Transparency in Operations: We ensure that all decision-making processes and operational activities are transparent, providing clear and accessible information to our stakeholders, including patients, employees, partners, and the public.
  • Compliance Monitoring: In partnership with the Compliance Committee, OAT oversees compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and internal standards, ensuring that Compassion Center meets its obligations and operates within the bounds of the law.
  • Investigations and Audits: OAT conducts investigations and audits to identify potential issues of non-compliance, unethical behavior, or operational inefficiencies. We take proactive steps to address these issues, ensuring that corrective actions are implemented promptly.
  • Reporting and Documentation: We manage all board communications and documentation, ensuring that records are maintained accurately and transparently. OAT also ensures that our stakeholders are kept informed about our activities and decisions through regular reporting.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: OAT provides channels for stakeholders to voice concerns, report issues, or seek information about Compassion Center’s operations. We are committed to addressing stakeholder inquiries with transparency and responsiveness.

How We Ensure Accountability

  • Regular Audits: OAT conducts regular audits across all departments to assess compliance, ethical practices, and operational transparency. These audits are designed to identify areas for improvement and to ensure that we meet the highest standards of governance.
  • Incident Reporting: We maintain a robust incident reporting system that allows employees, patients, and other stakeholders to report concerns or violations confidentially. OAT investigates these reports thoroughly and ensures appropriate actions are taken.
  • Training and Education: OAT is responsible for developing and implementing training programs that educate staff and leadership on compliance, ethical standards, and transparency. These programs are designed to reinforce our commitment to accountability at every level of the organization.
  • Collaboration with the Compliance Committee: OAT works closely with the Compliance Committee to develop, review, and enforce policies and procedures that promote transparency and accountability.
